Information You Submit
Partner Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the independent provider that operates that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our own systems. The provider's policy controls its handling.
Messages
We retain email or contact submissions as needed to answer them. We do not share those messages outside our organization unless a valid legal requirement applies.
Automatic Technical Data
Normal page delivery can record technical and usage details:
- IP address;
- browser name and version;
- device type and operating system;
- pages visited and time spent;
- referring page, when supplied; and
- request timestamps.
Cookies
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser settings can reject them, although some functions may then behave differently.
How Data Is Used
Collected data supports limited operating needs:
- keeping pages available and responsive;
- routing a query to the selected search partner;
- understanding which Shelby County resources are useful;
- diagnosing faults and security issues; and
- displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests.
Outside Sites and Advertising
Links lead to Shelby County offices, Texas agencies, release-record portals, corrections pages, federal locators, and independent search services. After a visitor leaves, the destination's privacy rules apply. Advertising partners may measure activity across websites on their own systems for interest-based advertising.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal data. Limited data may reach search providers processing a query, analytics vendors, advertising networks, or law-enforcement and government bodies acting under a valid legal order. Requests to Texas public offices are governed by their own practices and the Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552.
Security Is Best Effort
We use ordinary safeguards suited to this service. No internet-connected system is completely secure, so we cannot promise that data will never be accessed, changed, or lost.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This service is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under eighteen. A parent or guardian may request deletion if a minor submitted information.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law, a person may ask for a copy of personal data we hold, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, or an opt-out from certain processing. A request can be sent through Contacts. Verification may be required.
Policy Revisions
This notice may change as services or legal duties change. A revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
